Enrolment plan and Tuition fees for students from non-EU member states

Enrolment plan

If you want to apply for the Bachelor in Chemistry at URV, the process has the following steps:

1. Application (opened during all year)
Send one e-mail to the address undergraduate.admission(ELIMINAR)@urv.cat to ask for the admission application document that you will return filled and signed to the same e-mail address.
For any doubt, please contact with the URV academic management department Tf: +34 977 55 95 12.

2. Letter of acceptance of the University conditioned to the official recognition of your secondary school studies. The University will send you this letter in a few days after receiving your application correctly filled.

3. Obtaining official recognition of your secondary school studies (opened during all year). In order to enrol at a Catalan university, applicants must first obtain official recognition of their secondary school studies. This recognition must be requested to the Catalan Government by the web http://queestudiar.gencat.cat/es/homologacio/index.html. You can also find general information about the process through the Spanish Government website https://www.mecd.gob.es/servicios-al-ciudadano-mecd/catalogo/educacion/gestion-titulos/estudios-no-universitarios/titulos-extranjeros/homologacion-convalidacion-no-universitarios.html or the Spanish consulate or embassy in your country of origin.

4. Enrolment
If you have been accepted for studying at URV, you need to start to prepare the visa, book your accommodation in Tarragona, buy your flight and pay your tuition fee upon arrival. For this process, we strongly recommend you to purchase the Enrolment and welcome package.

Language requirements
Accreditation of level B2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in the language required for the course. Applicants who have taken the Baccalaureate studies in the language required for the course applied for will be exempt from submitting this accreditation.

How to accreditate the level B2?
English: official Cambridge certificates (FCE or higher), with results of 6.0 at IELTS or 100 at TOEFL (iBT), will be accepted, among others. Optionally, the results of internationally recognised evaluation tests for access to higher education (SAT, ACT or similar).

The welcome package includes:

1.    Help on the preparation of the documents before arrival

Elemental Spanish course (highly recommended)
1.    Duration: Intensive during September
2.    Hours: 4 hours per day for 3 weeks. Total: 60 h
3.    Number of students: Minimum, 10 students.
4.    Classroom teaching and mentoring.
5.    Official diploma of the course.

Spanish course (elective)
The course includes: 
1.    Duration: From October till April
2.    Hours: 4 hours per week. Total: 90 h.

Living costs


Accommodation: The university Rovira i Virgili does not have a university dormitory for students. The monthly amount in a student residence is 650-600 € in a shared room with full board (cleaning included).Sharing a room with other students can cost between 175-200 euros / month, if students want to rent a whole apartment this would cost between 450 - 600 euros / month.

Living expenses: The university offers catering service in the Campus, the price of the menus in these establishments could be between 5 - 8 euros. Outside the university you can find menus ranging from 10-12 euros at noon, the evening menu and higher price weekend. The price of a coffee can range from 1 to 1.50 euros, and if we look at the cost of a beer can range from 1.5 to 3 euros.

Transport: You can go round the city of Tarragona with the Urban bus (EMT the single ticket costs 1.50 euros. Students under 25 can buy a monthly travelpass for 25 euros, there are other possibilities.

*The official price of the Bachelor in Chemistry is updated each academic course since it is fixed by the Catalan Government. At 27 September 2017, 1 € = 1,17476 $.
